09 Feb No More Bogons
Well — last week it arrived — no more Bogon IP addresses exist (well there are some — but they have been defined as private/unroutable/multicast for years)
We aren’t out of IPs yet – but I wonder how this will affect net traffic — 4 years ago when I started to BGP filter out nonroutable bogon IPs I noticed a significant drop in spam. It hasn’t risen backup dramatically since then… but how will spammers spoof IPs now? One advantage to all IPv4 space being allocated is SOMEONE is responsible for every block.
